I looked at the holden site, all their electrical oil gauges are chrome bezeled, so far as I can tell, all my other gauges are black bezeled. I did find ETB, who do some black bezeled gauges.
Holden rarely carries a full line of even the manufacturers they do carry.
Match the gauges you have. 1988 might have been in that odd
period for Morgan gauges, between Smiths and VDO.
Does your gauge have a "Tudor" marking in its face? If so, contact the
specialist division of Caerbont (a Morgan supplier in Wales) called SpeedyCable.
They will take your existing mechanical pressure gauge and change it into
an electrical one. If you don't take that route, install a Smith's.
There have often been debates about which type of pressure gauge is more
accurate, mechanical or electric. No one ever wins. However, I have never
heard of a debate on which type is safer. But there is no question that a
mechanical gauge poses a serious risk. You have proven that to yourself already.
35£ is very reasonable for any period gauge. I imagine SC will charge about
the same and you can keep your original. The item that costs in this exchange is
the sender. But you can likely get them on ebay for much less if you know what you
are looking for. SC will help you.
