My car is now back with my dealer so will post an update as soon as I have one. I tried to find a local tyre fitter who could check toe out but 3 wheelers aren't compatible with their ramps/computer based alignment rigs and nobody seems to have the old "dunlop sticks" anymore!!
Allon White have been very helpful and plan to check alignment first and then work through a diagnostic routine with the factory...I'll keep you all posted but won't be able to try the car again myself until Saturday

I've certainly not experienced this, and the piece of road I've used for shake down is certainly the worst piece I know for uneven and bumpy surface.

A drive along the road through Moulsoe on the way from the M1 to Allon Whites will soon test out any kickback on the steering scared

Steering kickback on my car has now been fixed. Tracking was checked and found to be OK. Front shock absorbers then replaced and this seems to have fixed it. Steering is now fine - good feedback and no longer gets wrenched out of my hands if I hit a bump!!!

Thanks for reporting back Simmo, most interesting and very useful. Funnily enough, as I was driving along the other day, I was trying to isolate the problem, and it didn't seem to be anything to do with toe in/out, and I came to the conclusion that it could be shock absorbers, I just couldn't see what else it could be, given that it isn't happening on most of the other cars. I wonder if they have had a faulty batch of shock absorbers, as all our cars seemed to have been built at around the same time?

Obviously you can't check them now, but I would have been interested in what a 'faulty' shock absorber felt like in isolation.

Cheap and nasty shock absorbers only have damping one way, but decent ones damp on both ways. I didn't even know about the cheap ones until a tyre place 'sold' some to my mum.

I was most unhappy, the ones they took off were better, and I got them to refit the originals. Then as my mum was still concerned about them being faulty, I got some new proper shockers at a fraction of the price the tyre place had charged and fitted them. Five minute job on that car.

I rather doubt Morgan were trying to save money by fitting a cheap and not very good shock absorber, but I'd not be that surprised if somebody along the supply chain was being naughty.

In my mum's case, not Kwickfit, but a local concern with rather similar trading practices...

They were for a while the cheapest tyre place around, hence her going there.

The kickback problems all went when I changed to a smaller diameter MOMO steering wheel (280 mm) It´s like a dream to drive now on our bad roads now.

Well, I've had a 280 Motolita wheel on since I first got it on the road, maybe I should use a MOMO? Or, more seriously, try the horrible original wheel, which I have never used. If a small wheel makes so much difference, maybe the bigger one will help improve mine?
