Well, I finally did it, horay !
Booked my 4/4 in for a service last Saturday at Long Stratton.
I set off from home just after 5:30am. The weather was wet and wild so the hood was essential (pity). Managed to get the hood off for the latter part of the drive and arrived with minutes to spare.
I had booked for a test drive in an Elise while I was waiting for the 4/4, but I couldn't help noticing they had a M3W in the showroom with plates.
The sales gent was very helpful and after a trial fit of my 6'3" frame into the cockpit I challenged myself for a test drive.
I was very impressed with the 150hp Elise. I could see it as an everyday driver, however I felt that the gear change (selector gate) was a bit disapointing.
When the M3W was fired into life I realised what all the fuss was all about. FANTASTIC !!!!
Great character, just lovely. Words can't describe how it feels to drive it.
The engine vibrations can be felt right through the car and it feels quite a bit more raw than my Harley motorbike, but then again it has a much larger capacity.
The car drove really well. The controls felt great and I felt at home behind the wheel much faster than I was expecting to.
When I got back to the showroom I was getting a bit giddy and wanted to put my name down for one right there and then, but when I got back into my 4/4 and headed off up the road it became very clear to me that the 4/4 sport is without any shadow of a doubt the best Morgan for me. The balance of character, looks and comfort of the Sport cannot be compared to the M3W despite the extreme fun factor of that lovely M3W.

I am, therefore pleased to conclude that I am a very happy 4/4 Sport owner indeed !

Having taken a 3-wheeler for a test spin myself the other week, I know exactly how you felt. 3-wheelers are seriously addictive and should carry a government health warning.

I'm happy with my 4/4 Sport too.
Mmmh, although,....
I could get into the 3Wheeler all that I need for a hot weekend: CCC
Chicks, creditcard, courage. innocent
So no need for the 4/4 with a luggage rack, mmmh, damn it, I don't know... thinking

I have yet to even see a 3 wheeler in person, let a lone drive one frown

The dealership was scheduled to get their demo in March, then June, now July... one of these days I will get a chance smile

Great write up, thanks!

Had a drive a couple of weeks ago at Brands Hatch Morgan while the Aero was in for its annual service. Great drive with loads of feedback from the steering.

No hood though so on a prolonged touring trip I guess you would have to get inventive driving though a few hours of unrelenting rain. gloomy

Charles Morgan just did the Gumball rally in one must have been a great way to do it.

Roll on summer eh!

Nice writeup! I, too, was completely smitten by the MTW when I drove it. I still hanker after one, and if money allows I might well treat myself in a year or two. But just like you, I have to say my 4/4 is absolutely perfect for my needs.

I shan't be getting rid of it, it's been with me for 12 years now, and it's just coming up to 100k miles - although in truth there's not much left of the original car now, the body tub, seats, propshaft, crosshead and cowl are original, but that's about it :-)
