ooo - i´m afraid as far as i know Matthias (Kauffelt) will refuse to work on the new Roadster´s intruments - he doesn´t do "digitals" as i´ve been told.

And: the instruments electronics seem to be part of the ECU too, so they at least have to be kept as a "mule" backhands.. laugh2 innocent

That's a shame. That could be a deal breaker for me. I want a more classical dash - I'm still thinking though thinking

Rest assured - there are "others" thinking about that too - and i am dead sure, there will be an alternative /other solution some time.. grin2

Looking at delivery times for the new Roadster makes me think, that orders beeing placed now may even benefit from (hopefully) successful "overthinking" the whole thing by the right people... thumbs

Great to hear some impressions from the other side if the trad's spectrum.
There seems to be a trad for every taste:
Superior performance to annoy some Porsches: Roadster
Lightweight fun driving (and maybe annoy some older GTI's): 4/4
For those who can't decide: Plus4 hide

I made an enquiry of Mathias at MK. He responded very promptly and I am sure he will not mind me repeating his comments here -

"Unfortunately, I cannot offer any dashboard suggestion yet for the new Roadster until I had chance to examine such a car - but there's still not any of the new Roadster in the German market.

However, I have got at least a photo of the car's factory dashboard. Looks horrible - I agree !

I still await more information from my UK friends about the electrical system of the car to decide on a possible change to classic switches and warning lights. The car uses a lot of techniques of the current Ford Mustang, not only the engine.

What most probably will be possible is a new dashboard in first-class walnut with matching centre plate and a lockable glove box using all electrical equipment of the factory dashboard. The recessed part behind the steering wheel (holding the clock and switches) can also be altered to a more attractive shape.

But, once again, I do not know wether any of the electrical controls can be changed. For instance, if they use the new Can Bus technology like with the current AERO then there's no chance to alter anything on the electrical equipment.

I hope to get a chance for a close examination of a new Roadster in near future but it might take some time until I am able to offer an alternative to the factory dashboard.
So I have to ask you for some patience. You are not the only one who enquires for a new Roadster dahboard..."

So, MK are on the case and as Numog suggests, I am sure there will be more attractive alternatives. But due to the electronic Mustang engine management controls, I do not that think that any alternative is likely to resemble a classical Morgan dash.
