A volvo, a Morgan Runabout & now the new Roadster. Must be the way I turn the wheel innocent

Nothing like 'sounding off' occasionally to get yourself noticed Ian. Enjoy the effect. joy

I had a Polo that did that - centre push on steering wheel.
Took the wheel off and investigated the connections. Eventually found where the horn earth lead was making connection where it shouldn't and added some extra insulation. Took several attempts mind! Not before some poor chap had alsmost banged his head on his bootlid as I was reversing out of a slot in Morrisons car park one evening...

If it's a cloumn stalk, I've no idea - only ever had them fail, no horn... smile

I found the problem. The live wire from the horns connects to a spade connector on the underside of the steering wheel. The spade connector had come free from where ever it should have been fixed, so was flopping about, shorting against anything eathed & sounding the horn. I fished the wire out & it's now taped to the wheel boss. The first service is due shortly, when a new steering wheel is due to be fitted, so it can wait 'til then.

I'm used to being noticed in the Morgan. Just don't normally have to sound the horn to achieve it wink

This reminds me of that German chap who died a few years ago Peter Ollow Phorm ( I know I have got that wrong )This was the artist lad who painted the Scottish Saltire ( flag ) on his bonnet at a mog do then did it like the desert fox at another .We where standing chatting and he pressed his horn , I said Peter that sounds like a pig with its B*lls stuck in the gate . He burst out laughing then told me to 6-15 ( check the alphabet ) . One of the many nice character's that made the club what it is . thumbs

New experience for me last week. The horn push pad jumped out of the centre of the steering wheel mid journey. Was held in place only by an "O" ring it seems!

Repositioned, but bound to happen again I think.

Cheers - David.

This happened on my new 2011 4/4. Morgan replaced the "O" ring with a thicker one under warranty.
