Can anyone tell me where I can find this on the car. Took car back few months ago as not running as it should (racing hot idle, stuttering when pulling away hot). On the work sheet I saw "? replace ECU". When car returned they told me they had found something obstructing the throttle cable which they had rectified. Car was certainly better but am just curious as to whether in fact they took the opportunity to upgrade the ECU. Am told you can tell by the colour of sticker it has on it?
Hi Nick, Very easy to locate, right hand side of the engine at the bulk head. Aluminium cover, with a bunch of cables coming out of the side. If the latest ECU has been fitted then there should be a small orange dot sticker on this cover, where the cable exits. Our +4SS had a total ECU failure at 70miles. Now has the latest orange sticker version but still not 100%. Uses a lot of fuel. Currently at RPM Perth getting sorted. Cheers, Matt

Thanks for that it was really helpful. Just got back from a run and had a look under the bonnet and can see the orange sticker where you indicated, so guess I do have the updated ECU.
Are you having any issues other than fuel consumption btw?
Other than the fuel consumption, absolutely brilliant car and no other issues. Do you have a rough idea what mpg you are getting? I'm on about 18mpg as well the feeling that the engine is running very rich. RPM Perth are working on it but have not been able to find anything specifically wrong yet.
Hope you are enjoying yours!
Cheers, Matt

what is your average altitude in Scotland? I have the "new" ECU and in my area it runs very economically. when just cruising I have reached 6,5 litres/100Km and when driving really sporty not more than 10,5 l/100km.
During a trip to south Tyrol in April it smelled petrol when higher than 1500 meter above zero. When I´m back from holiday I will search to get the additional Barometric air pressure correction from Omex, like in this example:
That equates to around 24mpg to 38mpg, just what I would expect, mine is definitely using a lot more than that. We only live a few miles from the coast, so altitude is not an issue there but it is interesting that Omex supply a sensor to deal with large altitude changes. A road I use quite often is about 455m at the highest point. Maybe that would be considered a large enough change to make a difference? Will investigate further!
RPM Perth have a 42 point throttle body setup to go through. Maybe that will correct the problem. Might just be the TPS calibration or something else simple.
Anyway, will keep you updated with any progress. Cheers, Matt

Not sure what mpg I'm getting but am confident it is more than 18-20mpg. Depends how I drive of course but on a run I must be in the 30's. Have just done over 3000 miles btw. I wonder how easy they would be to work on if you put them on a rolling road?
Nice to see another Caterham owner on here too. I think quite a few of us have embraced Morgan ownership :-)
