Yes; I've even had people stop on roundabouts to let me in! More people pull over to let me pass, and far fewer tail-gaters.

Re the alternator light - it went out as I turned off the motorway and into traffic. Drove 200 miles today, no warning light.

I did notice that today the voltage was reading 14.0 ish most of the time, whereas yesterday it was 13.5 ish. As this car has been little used (600 miles in the last year) I wonder if the gel battery was a bit out of condition, and has been corrected by 360 miles of steady driving in the last few days.

Today we came home to N.Yorks via the Humber Bridge - great views, and over the moors via Kirkbymoorside, stopping for a quick half in the Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge (and a photo - will post). She's purring now with a few hundred miles use, I guess we're still running in (2900 miles clocked). Easy 70 on the M-ways, and 40mpg overall so far. Hood down all the way!



On the subject of the battery, I am considering a battery conditioner to keep it "topped up" over the winter period. Anyone use the CTEK 3600? Presumably I can run it through the lighter socket?

Outside the Lion Inn, Blakey Ridge, N.Yorks moors this afternoon, 10 miles from home.



I've just looked at the lighter socket (in the glove compartment) to see whether it could be used for a battery conditioner. Hmmm, it didn't have power with the key out - looked underneath - it's not connected at all! Oh dear. And I can't find any spare connectors that could be used...are they all like that?

With respect to the lighter fed battery conditioners, I could never seem to get a straight answer on this issue; therefore, I ended up buying this: -

Mine was actually the previous version of this one.

I had to lift the hood to fit the clamps but in all honesty, if I wasn't driving the car for a longer period of time (weeks), it didn't really seem like a big deal.

RE battery conditioner, I use accumate , you could buy a separate lighter leads for it.

Evening Nigel, previous verbal 'postings' cann't do it justice! Do we have the 'inkling' of a name yet? Similar colour to 'Arian' - who is 'VW' Metallic Silver a la Golf.

What are the Aux Lights ? They look like 'Tangos'. We need you to do a 'Road Test' of them and 'Post - It' under Paul's Thread re Lights - Group Buys.

PS I also use the 'Accumate'; on both 'Arian' and the mini - tractor

Well, the lights were described as "Plus 8 spots". They are fitted direct to the bodywork, not to the overriders, have halogen bulbs and come on with the high beam. No separate switching. I've not actually driven in the dark yet, so can't give a real report on performance. I'll have a closer look, to see if I can identify a brand name.

(PS: definitely not Cibie Tangos - they say "made in Britain" and are not as high quality as the Cibies)

Though it started as a runabout, identifiable by the lack of side louvres, it was one of the last ones, in Jaguar silver and with overriders not bumpers. There are many upgrades. Black leather interior done during the build at the factory. Lovely MotoLita wheel. Door handles, rubbing strips on side steps, chrome wires, spots, s/s luggage rack, tonneau, the Librands sports shift (which is very nice indeed), and a decent Alpine radio/CD. I really don't like the plain glass side mirrors (standard) and will change them for round convex glass a.s.a.p. from Librands. I am wondering about buying s/s wires (will sell the chrome ones) and seriously considering a Librands s/s rollover bar for the safety aspect. After that I would be interested in mild tuning - exhaust, fuel pressure regulator, set up by someone who knows what they're doing.

Oh, and a dateless registration is on the way.

A name? - still under discussion with the family. But I have the thumbs up from my daughters at least - they love it!
