 I hate kitchen gadgets... The worst, of any gadgets, usually have the letters J * L (enter middle on to taste  ) and are promoted via aggresive TV adverts... Best gadget??? How long is a piece of string...

How long is a piece of string... agree on worse "a hand operated coffee grinder: looks wonderful, but absolutely bl**dy useless", but Graham, What is a JBL?

Best gadget??? How long is a piece of string... About 2ft 6in with a loop at each end, and it holds the bonnet open when I'm working on the Morgan.  Bud

IMHO, a gadget is something you can do without but with either make certain situations (tasks) easier, more enjoyable, faster, etc. Or, if you want to be a real pedant  - gadget (noun) 1. a small mechanical device or appliance 2. any object that is interesting for its ingenuity or novelty rather than for its practical use

I'm right with you on the Leatherman. Sadly I think it's illegal to carry same anywhere in the uk now. Fabulous piece of kit though. Best ever. The carrying of knifes is an interesting one, and in the case of a Leatherman or similar, not necessarily illegal. Indeed, my filleting knife in its sheath (7 inch surgical steel blade - very sharp and thin) is not necessarily illegal either, but you'd be a fool to wear it in a built up area. Want to borrow my machete? Could have done with that a couple of sundays ago when I decided to remove a (large) shrub that takes over half the garden every year with its rapid growth... No, it didn't have legs Would hav been a darn sight easier than pruning shears, loppers and small tree saw. And given a lot more satisfaction Steve, why the letter 'B' as the middle one?
