NorthernMogman, I think you hit the nail on the head there. Although I quite liked the Wiesmann, and the quality/workmanship was better than Morgan, they were perhaps too clinical and expensive. Ownership of a Moggie is all about passion, feeling and conversing with TM chaps about little niggles !!!
Heritage and tradition was missing. But Wiesmann had a good built quality and obviously enough fans to let them exist for more than 20 years. I personally don't like retro style which links to historical periods where Wiesmann was not thought of.
I prefer my Mog with all the pros and cons, It's the "real thing" if she would be a soft drink.
Another big issue IMHO was the high level of entry price at Wiesmann. Morgan could not exist any longer if only manufacturing Aeros. Wiesmann should have offered a car in the 70.000 Euro region to get a bigger chance to reach the ok-wealthy and not only the very rich customers. In the 150K plus € zone air gets thin quick. But on the other hand I have no clue if that was to realize in terms of calculation.
At the end of the day the historical books of the future may describe Wiesmann as a successful phenomenon of it's time but without enough own standing, more depending on the Zeitgeist which obviously can change.
Question, will the existing Wiesmann cars level up or down in value?
