Seeing that 3 cylinder W engine remineded me of a Guzzi prototype

Between 1981 and 1982 Lino Tonti developed, on the basis of the twin-cylinder, a three-cylinder with a W layout with a 65° angle between the cylinders and a total displacement of 992 cc, rod and rocker arm distribution with two camshafts in the crankcase to the side of the central cylinder, fueled by three 30 mm Dell'Orto carburetors.
The engine, although remaining a masterpiece of engineering, was never mounted on any prototype and was probably set aside due to the bulk of the vertical cylinder which would have forced the design of a new frame.

Whilst I have no way of knowing it is possible that the design was conceived as an aero engine. Around that time Guzzi was supplying a hemi head version of the small block V twin as an engine for drones.

PS. Whilst I found this line drawing on the net next to a photo of the Guzzi prototype it is clearly a drawing of an entirely different engine. The words in English, rather than Italian, do seem to confirm this.
