Not an ideal solution, but I know of someone who swapped positions of the speedo and rev counter; wiring was long enough in his case with a similar year car. Does mean though that your speed vision is then compromised unless you back it up with a gps speedo. Think you would only find the offset a bit strange if negotiating hair pin bends at speed. As I know you like a bit of track work and hill climbs, it may not be ideal for you.
