Very topical cooperman! .... my Defender came to me from an old REME man who'd refurbished everything and fitted a galvanised chassis ........ then plonked the old farm body back on top as it was .... suited me at the time as I was giving it rough useage and was happy to not be worried by fancy paint .... fast forward 15 years and the now 30 year old bodywork was getting well past it's best ... have just spent a trying few days pulling off the rear tub and sorting the mess where the steel cross-braces crossed the aluminium stringers ... nowt left of the ali where they touched and the steel was beyond crispy .... after a couple of days of cracked knuckles, rusted/seized/sheared bolts and cascades of mud every time anything was touched the tub is refitted with all the corroded ali cut out and plated, a good soaking with black waxoyl and new galvanised crossbraces .... should be good for another few years ... by which time I might have forgotten what a pain it was!! 🙂 ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/09/07/20260907_213017.jpg) K
