I am sure this will be a recurring subject on the forums, as the Plus Six and Plus Four CXs have such garish steering wheels that look like an afterthought to me.
I have a Plus Six launch edition that the Morgan supplied wheel really doesn't suit. There are some aftermarket options, but a new Plus Six boss, wheel and horn push from Moto Lita will set you back the best part of £1000 plus fitting. As far as I know, the price would be the same for a Plus Four CX.
Is it just me or is that a silly price for a steering wheel and boss? The boss alone is over £600 with the VAT!
I am considering using a Momo quick release boss and steering wheel but I am not sure if they do a boss for the Plus Six. Anyone know what steering column Morgan use in the Plus Six/Four, or details of diameter and spline count?
I am interested in what other CX owners think about this issue and what solutions they might consider?
The original wheel functions well and is comfortable in use, it just doesn't suit the car, in the same way the BMW gear selector doesn't blend well with the interior styling. However,I understand why the selector is used and it is not the first thing you see, the steering wheel is, and Morgan were not compelled to use this ugly wheel, they chose to.
Any thoughts?

It's almost embarrassing and I doubted my mechanical knowledge.
Now it has worked out after all. The instructions from MP are very misleading... but the steering wheel is great. I'm very happy with the result.

I can appreciate where you are regarding the appearance of the BMW steering wheel
HOWEVER
I had the wooden Mota-Lita steering wheel on our 2010 4/4. Had loads of complimentary comments, but on a long trip it was not comfortable especially if you let your thumbs sit on the spokes. Friends with Plus Sixes have fitted the beautiful Morgan Park wooden steering wheels but they are expensive!
Personally I find the BMW wheel very comfortable and well-balanced for the car. I would recommend that you do a couple of long trips before making a change. Driving comfort may come ahead of looks!

A group from LogMog went to visit Moto Lita recently, I wasn't with them but my question for them "when will you have a wheel / boss combination that includes an airbag" was asked on my behalf. Their response was that they are in dialogue with MMC to provide this solution. Hopefully it will be able to be retrofitted to existing CX cars, not just new P4's and SS's.

John,

It was fitted from new at the factory, its on the Morgan MY22 price list .I'm not a small ;frame and long legged even with the hood up, its not always graceful but I can get in and out without too much of a problem (with the seat fully back) with that steering wheel. I'm sure either Morgan or a dealership might be able to get hold of the boss and wheel. The wheel has a really nice feel to it and finishes off the car for me, you hardly notice the incongruous auto gear stick as its lost in all the polished wood.

Although marked out of stock here is a link to the boss cost £550 https://morgan-kent.com/product/cx-models-steering-wheel-boss/

The option was £895 at the factory.

If you don't want the airbags then consider buying the MY22 or earlier model. It just won't have the traction control fitted. I prefer the earlier dash layout as it allows the use of a wood steering wheel as there are no air bags fitted complicating the issue, IMHO all the polished wood making it a very traditional looking interior
