GTN not sold at £70k see here

Seems to me that auctions, as opposed to dealer asking prices or even private sale asking prices are a real indication of what something is worth on the day.

That MMC built more than the number of Aeromax they intended to means there are far rarer late model Aero based products. Had MMC stopped at 100 and not built the 20 or so cars for the USA, as well as a few others, I would find it easier to reconcile the price differential; however, as it stands, to my mind the Aero Coupe and Aero SS, etc, have lower numbers on their side.

With that said, the Aeromax was a triumph of marketing for MMC and really rekindled interest outside the core demographic for the marque but that still doesn’t make it the rarest but perhaps the poster child for people who really didn’t know a lot about Morgan before they saw it (and Richard Hammond owned and repeatedly crashed, and wrote about, his).

As for the GTN, personally, I am of the opinion that most people don’t see it as a lot more than a Series 1 Aero with a hard top. Fair or not is down to the individual and their opinion; however, the standard Series 1 was not lacking in power (hence more than a few ending up being written off or damaged in the early years) and the lack of open top motoring is always going to limit appeal when Aero shopping.
