Apologies if this has been covered under another thread..

I am contemplating upgrading my indicators to LED (I know not strictly legal!) however I feel the rear indicators (hazards) need a boost to stand some chance of being seen if stuck on a smart motorway breakdown!!

The car has a standard relay set up (not part of PCB panel as later cars). I am advised that ballistic resistors are required to allow relay to flash correctly but has anyone tried any fancy LED (382 P21W) bulbs?? I am surprised there are not integrate bulbs with resistors integrated by now.

Just to bring the thread to a close - I contacted Clasic Car LED and they supplied a replacement Flasher/Indicator relay (mounted in the relay/fuse box box in the engine bay of my car) and 4 x Amber LED 382 Bulbs. Simple plug and play and I also changed rear brake/tail to Red LED 380 bulbs to complete the set!

Well I certainly qualify for the grumpy old man category Doug, but being a Yorkshireman also getting something for nothing is high on my list and that's what LED's provide given their light output and minimal power consumption, not to mention longevity.

If you have ever driven across the Lincolnshire Wolds on the B1225 past Belmont TV mast you will know what I mean about being seen. This is a popular route allowing good progress when traffic minimal. There seems to be a mindset though with a few (but it only takes one) that illuminating sidelights is a waste of time and headlights are not needed until at least lighting up time. In conditions of light mist and/or gathering dusk the difference between seeing those with some lights on and none is chalk and cheese. That's when I vowed to improve the visibility of my car despite it having sidelights on with ignition.
