So, we have a thread about losing interest in driving for pleasure but what are the cars that are the antidote to that feeling?

Obviously, there is likely to be a strong vote for Morgans of all forms but what else does, could or would tempt you to get behind the wheel, just for the sake of it?

Personally, and to start things off, I found a Mk1 Mazda MX-5 to be the perfect antidote. Whilst people complain about speed cameras, you don't have to be doing law breaking speeds to enjoy driving it. The suspension is supple enough that even poor quality roads don't phase it or make a journey unpleasant. Lastly, even buying a cared for one, in excellent condition, won't break the bank.

Although I haven't driven one, I would imagine a preowned Alpine A110 would tick similar boxes, although the lack of manual gearbox may rule it out for some people.

So, over to you all. I am as capable as most of bemoaning the state of driving but this thread isn't about that: this thread is about vehicles that inject joy into the virus that is petrol-misery! wink laugh2

Took the Morgan down to the gym this morning .... it's only 100 yds from the mural ... couldn't resist ... yep, you shouldn't really park that close to a corner (double yellows give it away 🙂) ... chance of suffering consequences in any given 5 minutes somewhat slight though 🙂

I'll throw in a comment from my mid twenties son who after a long drive in our Roadster commented, " I absolutely love it. You can potter along, you can see everything and smell stuff. You know it can go like the proverbial but who cares. Why would you want anything else ?"

Mrs Image and I were out for a stroll yesterday and these 4 zipped past ....no reason, just pals got together for a spontaneous run on a sunny day ... turns out I know a couple of them ... they dropped past a favourite car photographing spot in Fraserburgh ... no Idea how they got the camera angle short of shinning up a lampost!! .... back from when cars were colourful .... Mrs Image noted that white (or shades thereof) seems to have taken over from silver as the 'safe choice' for cars at the moment ... makes these stand out all the more! 🙂

If I had a 2 car garage - or even room for a 2 car garage - This is what would be alongside the Plus 4 in a shot - Well a year, as that's the waiting list time....

I reckon a Porsche Cayman would do it for me!

What about this for an antidote, this morning I cracked open the sparky tapes and decorated my Italian spider with tricolour stripes!

No, not tape, it’s chavtastic bungee cords😂
Proof if ever it were needed, you can’t pigeon hole a person by the car they drive, I’ll drive anything!

That’s comforting to know about the horrible torque steer, I thought there might be something amiss, turns out then, it’s working perfectly 😂

In its defence, it’s a very comfy car if you’re not in a hurry and believe it or not, lots of onlookers comment on how cool it is.

As mentioned elsewhere on TM, I now have a Pembleton V Sport, which definitely puts the interest back into driving.

I had an M3W in the past and really missed it. The V Sport is definitely an absolute hoot to drive. It is quiet when pootling about, but gets very rawty when you pt your foot down. The suspension is excellent and the gear change ‘fun’. Our other car is a VW ID3 which is about as tedious as it gets.

This is a local business. Had a tour ( thanks to Ray) a while back. Forget the tv progs as this was so much better!
There was a Bluetrain being built and was prepped to start body panelling over a wooden frame. If I had the £££££ I’d have one. Mind you I’d be tempted with any of his cars!
We sometimes see Bentleys in the area that you know were going to/ been there.
