While driving to my local Morgan experts the temp gauge started “marching” - immediate stop and after 15 minutes cooling, Bonnets open, completed journey to Kirwans and the mechanic looks underneath and says “ another radiator to play with”- this rad is a replacement which was fitted some 15,0000 Kms ago.
I gather radiators are not available at present from the factory - (one for a friend of mine is on back order since July!!!)so another Long wait is in prospect.
what is wrong with MMC??? Surely they need to have radiators in stock given the number of failures.

Most disappointed as otherwise, the car is a gem

Cheers!

As there is a bit of speculation ref how the cooling system operates, the following are the basic flow diagrams of the BMW B58 engine ( Plus Six) . These diagrams are from BMW training information available online so only reflect the installation in a BMW vehicle. However, they do show the split flows during warm up and the electronic control valve, Morgan uses broadly the same system but with their radiators, dual expansion tanks ( I believe the BMW expansion tank is a semi twin tank in one housing in some models ) and installation etc.. I believe the Plus Four engine flows are broadly similar. Its a fairly complex system engineered to meet emissions and controled by the ECU. The Morgan ECU reflash must have changed the engine coolant flow control during warm up and maybe at other times of light load, but this is only a surmise.

I think that the days of 'hand built' went some years ago. It's very much 'hand assembled' nowadays.
I can't imagine that there's much scope for artisan flair in the construction process today, there has to be standardisation in the assembly process to do away with friday afternoon cars and variable build quality.
If the Italians are asking £100k+ for the plus six then, at that level, and with the expectations of the clientele, there is no room for the 'quality fluctuations' of a hand built Morgan........🤷🏻‍♂️

Well this was the explanation given by Morgan Belgium . With the new software the closure or the opening of electronic valves are delayed. Now when they check the radiator if there is a few drop of coolant

the radiator is changed and the waranty extended 2 years (on the radiator). On my 5 radiators i had always only few drops sometimes with nothing on the floor. The radiator seems to be well built and is very

heavy. My car has now 25000 km and since february 2024 the radiator is not leaking . I am crossing my fingers.

Even it is annoying i can't complain about Morgan or garage Albert because they fix the problem at there own cost. It is 12 hours work and it is a small garage with only 3 technicians.

I have one of the first made plus four ( july 2020). Since 2020 the plus four has been improved a lot after the remarks of the customers.

The last design has beefed up edges. Mine was fitted lasy year. But it is still the old supplier. Redesigned units from a different supplier were fitted from MY 24. I would ask for that upgrade as I think now you can get it done.

I would add I got 2 years warranty on the replacement
