Since this is supposed to be a pub, what’s your favorite going out drink?

My favorite is a really good Bloody Mary with a beer chaser. The addition of a beer chaser seems to be unique to Wisconsin.

I just bought this bourbon whiskey to make a Classic Old Fashion. Came highly recommended for Old Fashions.

For several years in the 1980s I worked in an office close to Selfridges. I highly recommend their perfume department

I have to say the ability to communicate with people all over the world through the internet like this is quite an incredible thing. You all are throwing out cultural bits of language use or names of things I’m not familiar with and I look it up immediately on the internet and I’ve learned something. The only way people could communicate with any immediacy with people in other countries before the internet was by short wave radio or the telephone and that was one on one conversation. The internet as a communication and learning tool is unparalleled.

Just saying I really appreciate this and happy I live in a time I’m able to do it.

This is Hershey my internet buddy. She was an abused rescue dog we got from the local humane society and with a lot of love is now a big lap dog.

Have you tried a Dark & Stormy? Two parts dark spiced rum to five parts Ginger Beer - a squeeze of a quarter of a lime? Worth a shot if you haven't and like the sound of it. I've dabbled with various rums for the mix and have settled on Kraken being one of the better ones and Bundaberg Ginger Beer being a good match.

A nice glass of good Amarone, with some good cheese, is a great winter shout as well.

It's all the stuff in the bottom of the pan after cooking a roast so not just fat but the meat juices ... back in the day before everything was mechanised and working folks used mega-calories doing things a machine does for them now 🙂

Ps ... like suet ...really just hard animal fat ... much less eaten these days than when I was a kid ... but a suet dumpling, steak and kidney pudding with a rich gravy and a suet crust or a sweet suet pudding with treacle were the ultimate winter comfort-foods of my childhood .... just about disappeared with modern lifestyles ... relied on you outputing all those calories climbing trees all day as a kid or as an adult doing the sort of work a back-hoe does 🙂

Mrs Image's granny used to say that a meal without suet in it somewhere wasn't fit to put in front of a man! ... but then her husband was a labourer and needed digging fuel!! 🙂

Pps ... back in the day not wasting anything was universal for farming and labouring workers ... I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a US version of all the above, but maybe even further left behind by modern lifestyles

Dining then:
Burleigh Gin & Fevertree Tonic
Followed by a decent red
And then a good malt - Laphroaig currently in stock (courtesy of Mrs F & a recent birthday).

I'll be filming? videoing? the 20 man strong pipe band that marches down our avenue. Then it'll be a Tesco roast beef dinner followed by a glass of Glenmorangie with three lumps.

Off to a Black Tie celebration in darkest Suffolk. Hopefully illuminated by fireworks.

Yes after an hour and half of Church Bell ringing we often retire there for a wet or three. This is the motley crew a few years back when we helped get them the 100' down the tower to be shipped to London Village to be retuned and augmented with another two small one's to make us a full eight the tenor is near enough 14cwt.
