Dan at Krazy Horse invited me to test drive their WRP4 , a much upgraded manual Plus Four on a sunny dry day in June.
When the CX cars started I drove a manual Plus Four but was disappointed by the long gearing & a performance that didn’t seem much better than the then series 1 3l Roadster I was driving.
Dan knew that I like others were disappointed there isn’t a manual Plus Six and by the less exciting manual Plus Four. Knowing they had improved the car Dan kindly offered a test drive.

The WRP4 is their attempt to make an exciting manual Plus Four and boy does it do that and some.
Power has been raised from 254 bhp to 335 bhp and torque from 350 Nm to 483 Nm.

The car is transformed and drives like the CX manual should have been all along with seemingly endless power delivery. It far out performs my 3.7l Roadster though of course the ride is better / different to the chassis cars. It feels really planted but gives good feedback.
Now it accelerates in top at motorway speeds and driving the Suffolk B roads in third is a joy.
The full spec of the WRP4 is here Morgan Plus Four WRP4 in Dove Grey - Krazy Horse (https://krazyhorse.co.uk/collections/current-car-stock/products/morgan-plus-four-wrp4-dove-grey)
Among the upgrades is a revised rear number plate which I think looks much better than the stock unit.

Whilst the WRP4 is a one off Krazy Horse can upgrade both manual & auto cars to the specification.
The ECU is remapped for £595 and a 200 cell cat (BMW approved part) fitted for a further £795. But they will only do this for cars out of warranty.
As driven the car has a sports exhaust which adds a real rumble to the sound track and cracks & pops on the over run in sports plus mode.
If you want the nice exhaust sound you need a sports exhaust as well which would add roughly £2,500.
Stopping this beast wasn’t an issue and Dan told me that the brakes are standard which really surprised me. They had with none of the long pedal travel I associate with early CX cars. It seems the trick is in thoroughly bleeding them.
I did ask my insurance agent for a quote which came in at £1200 though I suspect lower offers would be out there.
The cost to change is also a big consideration. For this car I would need nearly £30k. But of lower spec used Plus Fours are out there so the gap could be lower.
Am I tempted. Yes, but on the drive home I also really enjoyed the trad chassis car experience. Time will tell. In an ideal world I’d keep both.
If you have or plan to have a Plus Four I can recommend trying the upgraded cars. Krazy Horse have both the manual WRP4 & an automatic in stock right now.
I have no affiliation to Krazy Horse and caveat emptor etc as my impressions are based on an hours drive only.
I would say go & have a try. You will love it.

P.S. so taken was I that today I traded my Roadster in for a Red 22 Plus Four.
