Bit of an odd one this, but I was watching a rerun of my all time fave sitcom “Rising Damp” when I could see an odd blurring on a small part of the screen and realised they were editing out a calendar featuring a topless model(not sports cars) that was on the wall of the students bedroom.
Seems a bit peculiar that it was okay to run the episode on prime time TV circa 1975 with many repeats over the years since without censorship, but now fifty years on we have to have a tiny part of a TV screen featuring bare breasts blurred lest we be offended.
Also got me thinking about red top page three girls - had to google it but “The Sun” covered up in 2015 with “The Star” following suit in 2019.
Back in the 80’s and 90’s I worked as a Store Manager and Buyer in manufacturing plants and come Christmas time, used to get nearly as many topless girly calendar’s from sales rep’s as the Labour leadership get free outfits.
These were gratefully accepted by the lads in the warehouse and various work shops around the factory to brighten their walls up.
Presume these “glamour” calendars are also extinct these days - replaced by Cotswold cottages or similar.
You can just imagine today’s Director’s of Inclusion and Diversity at Personnel Department’s or Human Resources or whatever they are called having a melt down if they came across a page three calendar on the factory floor.
