‘The Royal Beat’.
On ITV 1.

Few programmes have irritated me more.
Susie loves that sort of stuff.
Me? I lasted about 20 minutes, then retreated to the garage.

I was a Royalist until the Queen passed but I refuse to recognise that wife cheating tight as a tic adulterer as my King.

Well hopefully it will be a short reign ,he finished me off when he made her Queen not consort ,lets move onto the next generation, they seem to show far more promise..

Well, that sort of 'accommodation' was the whole reason for the CofE in the first place! 🙂

Don't have a TV (and never have) so all the garbage floats by me (sounds like some here might benefit from that as far as blood-pressure goes 😁)

We get good monarchs, so-so monarchs and due to the power of parliament we can avoid the damage should a bad one come along.(unlike back in the old days)

Never have accepted anyone's 'better than me' by accident of birth (and precious few by 'merit') ... however we shouldn't hurry to abandon the concept of an unelected, apolitical head of state .... William's meetings with Trump has been a case in point ... able to do the talking about generalities and sounding out a prime-minister would do at an event like re-opening Notre Dame .... 'President in waiting' to 'King in waiting' both representing their countries .... an official function at a time when the UK Government have well and truly pissed on their chips with their petulant hostility to what has turned out to be the future President in the run-up to the US election ... Starmer would have got the coldest of shoulders .... William will have been coached in what to discuss and no doubt debriefed on every word after .... friendly contact nation to nation that none of our ruling politicians could have acheived at this time.

I do chuckle at the anti Charles views because of his marital affairs. How many have had affairs or relationships outside of their own marriage, how many have family or friends who have and are divorced but they don't cut off relations with? I always say be very careful for what you wish for and it takes two to Tango or Charles's case three.

Don't forget Charles wouldn't even be in the running if his great uncle had been allowed to be King and marry Mrs Simpson. He must have worked hard to get that ban lifted.

Wouldn't have had Liz either. If Edward remained on the the throne, and assuming nothing else changed, by my reckoning when he died in 1972, his brother Henry (oldest surviving brother) would have become King for a couple of years, and we'd now be on King Richard (current Duke of Gloucester).........

Ban was lifted by the CofE in 2002, Good old Mum sorted it out for him.
