I'm going for a test drive of a 3 wheeler tomorrow having never driven one before. I would like to add a 3 wheeler or Super 3 to the garage at some point in 2025. Any tips for the test drive? Given that mid-30k pricing seems achievable in a buyer's market for both models, any thoughts on whether a 3 wheeler or Super 3 would make the better choice for someone hoping to step a bit out of my comfort zone for some 3 wheel adventures? Any thoughts on a gloomy December day welcomed! Beard

I own a super 3 //.2 month with this funny car.I am glad and happy. a modern car, no problem .It is perfect in its own way. I have driven a plus 8 for 40 years .a wonderful companion for all this time. But now I no longer have to sorry about getting stuck in long highway construction zones. It is a different feeling, but it is also a new and different time. you don't have to worry about so many things take the car out of the Garage like a normal every day car. I am happy and satisfied with my decision for a super 3 It is not the feeling of a classic car. But the super 3 is a fun and soulful modern companion. Good luck with the decision and greetings from germany

This is my car!!.I am happy after the first 5 month.6500 km in winter/spring no major problems.laughing children at the roadside.using the MS3 like a normal everyday car, with the difference of feeling the joy of life every day. such a reliable partner, who sometimes let his belt cry out.( but with nestors's help and carbon belt spray-this can be easily remedied) so match fun and with a big smiley sticker on the hood, with no fear of breaking down with this modern machine(i have my 40 years experiens with my Morgan +8) Joy of life for every minute of driving.

It's always worth reading The Buyers Guide to acquaint yourself with various issues concerning the S&S powered M3W along with many of the fixes. Some of the issues were addressed in later production, but most are up to the owner to resolve. If you can find a car that has the modifications already done then you will have a more reliable car and potentially save yourself a lot of money in the long run.

I own a v twin S and S three wheeler and have done European trips around 2,500 miles with no problems. I liken the V twin vs super 3 like the difference between the original mini and the modern mini. The original has real character, always needs something fixing but had a real character and a way of connecting with the road. The modern mini is much more refined in every way but for many lacks the character of the original. Very comfortable, more room and a real cruiser, but in the case of the 3 wheeler lacks the sound of that big thumping V twin. Each is perfect in its own way but I think once you have tried the super 3 you will know. Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for that - the brakes were ultimately OK when they came on, but the several inches of travel before the "bite" took some getting used to. You may well be right that it's just an adjustment that's required. I should stress that the car was otherwise set up really nicely and presented in lovely condition. One of the things I've really liked about my Aero is just how confidence-inspiring the brakes are - as good as any car that I've driven. I imagine you can't achieve quite the same with a three wheeler in part because there is so much less contact rubber to brake with. Does the rear disc brake conversion make much difference? Beard Adjust the pedal and or seating position to improve feel. Rear disc brake does certainly improve the 'feel'. Might be less contact rubber but its having to stop a lot less weight than a traditional car. Personally never had an issue with the braking side of things. (rear disc fitted and pedals all set up to my liking).

What I find exhausting on my 5-speed is not the vibration, but that there is no place to stretch my feet. I have well over 20k miles on mne and several 200-400 miles days. Another down side, mine now burns a quart of oil every 200 miles an X-wedge parts are made on unobtanium.

I finally got to try a Super 3 yesterday - courtesy of the lovely team at Morgan Brands Hatch. It was a perfect sunny day, which must have helped, but I really enjoyed the experience. A few reflections to share: 1. the cockpit is tighter than I thought it would be, particularly when getting in and out, but plenty of legroom with the pedal box adjusted to its furthest position (which was very easy to do). 2. the high pitched belt whine is noticeable at first because it's a different noise than you expect, but I found that pretty soon it faded into the background and didn't trouble me at all by the end. I would love to try a chain drive though - has anyone got one or tried one yet? 3. the engine is quite powerful enough, but obviously lacks the aural drama of the S&S 3 wheeler. I'm keen to try a sports exhaust to see if it makes much of a difference. I didn't miss the vibration of the old model - I could imagine taking the Super 3 for a longer drive. 50mph comfortable, 60 mph starts getting to the point where I'd quite like a visor though. 4. the width of the front wheels didn't bother me at all - its very easy to place and no problem on typical English country roads where two cars passing is a little bit of a squeeze. 5. the ride is surprisingly good - nice plump front tyres and decent suspension travel so really quite comfortable - more compliant than my Aero. I didn't sense the rear getting light going over bumpy, rolling roads, which was re-assuring. 6. I'd like a harder brake pedal feel, but the brakes ultimately work fine - and it's not a car for heroic Lotus Elise/MX-5 driving, so I suspect "slow in - fast out" is the better driving style and engine braking is encouraged by the engine characteristics and the great gearbox. 7. smiles, waves and driver road courtesy experienced at every turn!
Next steps - drive an old and a new back-to-back (I'm favouring a Super 3 at the moment), try out a Super 3 with the sports exhaust, and get my wife to come with me to make sure she knows what she's letting me get her into!
Great in the lovely weather we're experiencing to get the Aero out to drive there and back - nothing quite like a torquey V8 with side exhausts! Happy driving ....

Hi Stevo All 3 Grindelwald super3's broke down.?? My easter holiday trip from germany ( near the nederlands border) to austria and back nearly 1700 km no technical problem, may be a bit noise fun on the whole way,( hazy clouds, sunshine, rain showers, wind, coldness,) but always warm to the soul.and stroking the vibration dashboard. The feeling of security of being able to drive a well functioning vehicle on german highway, even at higher speeds. and go-karting is even more fun in the mountain of Austria. The first time for me on a long way with my super 3 My smileys on the hood laugh as much as my soul 😇😇😇 Henry

I was a die-hard five-speeder fan... until I drove the Super 3! We now have two five-speeders and two Super 3s (don't ask!!!), so I'm not choosing one over the other. However, the Super 3 has addressed a large number of issues I have with my five-speeders and is far more practical - to the extent that a Morgan can be at all practical. Hard luggage is fabulous. Handling at speed is excellent. Driving position is much improved. The cockpit is much cooler - which is important here in USA - without the exhausts cooking us in an aluminum oven. More practical interior. I'm sold.

I should add that my wife has christened it "the Thunderbird"! Thunderbird 3 seems a great name - top marks to her! Congratulations on your new Morgan and wishing you many happy miles behind the wheel. T3 was a rocket...may be appropriate for a Super 3 T2 although a bit plump, was the correct green Anyway, enjoy ! & we need to hear more from Super 3 owners, so do please post more updates of life with one
