Hi Beard,
I've owned Morgans for 10 years.
My first Morgan was a 2012 MTW with an S&S engine, which I kept for four years.
The positives of the MTW with an S&S engine:
- Captivating sound
- Great retro look
- The torque of the S&S
The negatives of the MTW:
- Many parts break due to excessive engine vibration
- Transmission too fragile compared to the engine's torque
- Too much weight on the front end
- The S&S X-Wedge is apparently no longer manufactured. What about spare parts availability?
I've also owned the new Morgan Super 3 for a year.
The positives of the MS3:
- The engine is in a front mid-mounted position, so the car is much more balanced.
- You can see that the car has really benefited from significant research and development.
- The power-to-weight ratio is very good, and the car performs really well.
The negatives of the MS3:
- The pedals are a little offset to the side (left for me because it's a LHD).
- The wind deflectors are a little too low for me.
- The car's sensitivity to crosswinds, especially if the tires are overinflated.
- The center tunnel presses against the side of my hip, which is unpleasant.
- MS3 sales aren't taking off. Is this an opportunity or a risk to keep an MS3 in the future?
In conclusion, I really like the look and sound of the old MTW.
But I much prefer the comfort, performance, and reliability of the new MS3.
