The reason for my problems with intermittent running on my 2002 +8 have finally been diagnosed as a rusty fuel tank, so I need a new fuel tank (keep your fuel tank brimmed and use an additive boys and girls).
Mulfab seem to be the only people now who can supply a SS tank, I have a lot of time for Mulfab in the Peter Mulberry days but I would be interested in what experiences people have had with the company since he retired.

Just for clarity, has anyone else had an issue with Mulfab's welding? .... it would be a pity if a company's reputation was rubbished on account of a single failed weld being reposted numerous times years down the line ... if it is something that has been ongoing then fair enough .. but if it's an isolated incident then, failing 100% weld x-raying like critical nuclear or aerospace applications, then maybe it belongs in the 'sh*t happens' file?
No connecrion to the company needless to say.

All this concentration on beefing-up the welding and using stronger bobbins are, in effect, attempts to make the radiator a structural part of the chassis. As the chassis is flexible, this approach is likely to bring its own problems. An old-school engineer once explained to me that if a component wants to move - let it - just control its range of movement. Then you do not create any new stresses and avoid component failure. Perhaps a solution could be a larger hole in the top bracket and a bobbin loosely fitted and free to move. I'm interested to hear opinions.
