Talk Morgan Forums Thread Like Summary - Super Sport (and more) presented by MSCCH

Last weekend 12, 13 and 14 September, the Morgan Sports Car Club Holland had a booth on the biggest automotive event in the Netherlands: Wheels Mariënwaerdt (somewhat like a smaller Goodwood). Thanks to Louwman Exclusive Cars (the Dutch importer/dealer of Morgan in our country) we were able to present the very first registered Super Sport in The Netherlands to wider audience. What struck me was that the Super Sport attracts much attention from an audience younger than that of the typical Morganeer. They look at the new Morgan as a modern car that clearly shows that it builds on the Morgan heritage. Judging from the response from the audience, MMC’s idea to have a car that appeals to a younger demography proved right. Not every owner of a traditional Morgan is appreciative of the Super Sport’s design, they may be served better by a Plus Four, or a well maintained or restored trad. Personally, I like the Super Sport very much and the treatment of the “trunk” is growing on me. I had the privilege to drive the Super Sports (with the handling pack -> nitrons) over a longer distance and I compared to my Plus Six (2025, with standard suspension) I found the ride of the Super Sport to be a bit firmer. It is very difficult to really describe my subjective findings in a simple terms. Most noticeable to me was that in a longer bend, the Super Sports has less roll. Aside from the exterior looks, I did not have the idea that I was driving a completely different car. The Super Sport feels to have a suspension that is a bit more “aggressive”, firm, my Plus Six is a bit more comfortable, the difference is subtle. If I would have been blindfolded, I would have said that my Plus Four had overinflated tires. Dis is not meant to be negative, I merely try to describe in what way the Super Sport felt different to my Plus Six. I do not feel the urge that we must upgrade a.s.a.p. and trade in our Plus Six for a Super Sport. However, when we would be in the market for a new Morgan, like we were last year, I would order a Super Sport and be extremely happy with it. In conclusion, the Super Sport may just be what MMC needs, it appeals to a new demography and convince a few Morganeers to a trade in. For the Morganeers that look for the most classic lines, there is the wonderful Plus Four.
