+8Rich, I live but a field away from suburbia, along a self maintained lane on what once was a dept of ag& fish pig farm, where the sitting tenant bought it and gave up on the amount of effort required to make a living and I was able then to buy it.... jeez that was way back in the mid to late seventies, spent the majority of my adult life trying to improve it... Duh..! There were a couple of other pic farms along the lane, that in time gave up, one down to the natural ageing processes and the other when foot&mouth hit... I well remember cutting out my usual Morgan runs in the local countryside hoping to restrict the chances of picking anything up and spreading it... As well as using welly baths when visiting my neighbour, so yes quite well up on the ways and responsibilities of countryside living, regularly picking up litter on my morning walk up to what was one of the local lairds big hoose, the litter left by dog walkers and the likes .... Pity they seem to have so little respect but at least it provides me with bending and stretching exercises to lift the stuff up.... OK,OK, parking the grumpy old man stuff.... for a while at least... (-:

RichardV6, when I was first trying to decide upon "Which Morgan" in the mid 90`s had a 4/4 with even the forerunner of the BDA in the form of the Lotus Twink, then that would have matched my ideals at the time, despite their propensity to have water pump issues and sweat a bit of oil, as they did in the old 60`s Elans I had run in times past, the intake roar of those four Weber`s was addictive as was the light weight of the Elans and with discs all round... Wonderful.. (-:
The RS 2000 was not a patch on the BDA or BDB. I had the good fortune to be carrying out work for the local ford dealership at the time they had decided to attempt to set up a a specific sports department, to market all the ford related goodies, they had bought in an ex-Broadspeed escort racer, Jeez what a bit of kit that was complete with all the spares to go racing... I spent an inordinate amount of time in that part of the workshops drooling over that wonderfully curvy wheel arched machine, perhaps the equivalent of automotive porn for the youngster I was at that time... A truly sad loss but good to know Tcherek is settled in the same city as her Mum now and carved out a new life after nearly being born in a Morgan, so much history.

Her humour is unrelenting - she took on a refuge dog bereft of one leg so calls him Three Wheeler, another beautiful person.

From what little I know, most of which was learned from the vast knowledge of Lorne Goldman, aka Mr GoMoG, both Bill Fink and J.H.Shealy promoted Morgan in the good ol USA. and through somewhat difficult times for the MMC. Bill converting fuelling systems comply with tighter US regs and so much more, and JHSII entering and winning so many sporting events, keeping the Morgan wings way out in front... He also drove his vintage V twin three wheeler from coast to coast across the USA and wrote about it in Miscellany, as I recall it was it was quite a story, with some gun play involved...Well it is the USA after all..! (-:

JHSII liked to keep things ship shape, his garage was a picture in it`s self, and when he used to trailer his BDA (?) engined "race" Morgan, he pulled it behind his immaculate 50`s truck.... it made quite a picture, but then as best I remember photography was the medium in which he earned his coin..John had also been a military jet jockey....

I used to send Tcherek an occasional pic from European trips and others I was fortunate to enjoy with my good lady in our old +8, and Tcherek would post them up on her Morgan website. My old Mog even managed to receive the acclaim of Morgan of the Month on Tcherek`s site way back when...(-: It would seem that Tcherek, Bill and J.H.S.II were Morgan people through and through, just like a stick of rock, that has Blackpool printed all the way through it`s length... (-:

Yup these folk along with others put a great deal of effort into the spreading of Morgan`s wings across the USA.

Only remembered the name of Tcherek`s website after I posted the above.... Typical... Duh..! Think it used to be called Smogthis...?
