Hello everyone!

As the weather is warming up, tis the season for a little light maintenance on my 4/4. I wanted to give those usual nooks and crannies a little squirt of liquid protection in the form of ACF-50.

Alas! My can, despite being 2/3 full of liquid, is completely out of propellant!

Does anyone have any ideas? Can I just drill a hole and pour the contents out?

A warning to those who have not used their can in a while. It may not squirt properly anymore.

No sniggering at the back please.

Looking at [the website selling AC-50](https://acf50.co.uk/) to buy a new can, I came across this [corrosion block grease](https://acf50.co.uk/product/corrosion-block-grease-16oz-tub/). Has anyone tried it for kingpin lubrication?

I usually use Red 'n' Tacky.

Same issue here, and because I'm from Yorkshire I will be drilling it...if I don't post again it went boom

Well I'm with Julian....large container of ACF-50 and a hand spray bottle.

Re aerosol , Take it outside and stick an old set of compasses point through the side furthest away from you whilst holding it vertical, puncture near the top and you won't lose any of the contents. Don't be surprised if there's nothing pressure wise left in it. Before you start if you can squeeze the can between fingers and thumb then there's little or no pressure. if it's hard then the valve has failed but you can still depressurise it quite easily.


Now ..... shock absorbers that's another story!. As an apprentice I was sent out to drill a hole at the top to depressurise them and dump the oil in the wast container!

All I can say there is I worked with a load of bar stewards! Mind you, they were so awful to work with that they caused me to change my life. I ended up flying helicopters, They still Had oily rags in their pockets!

I've attempted a Darwin a few times but never made the grade. Usually involving a naked flame and something combustible.

Favourite winter trick was flashing thinners off, when painting something in adverse conditions. Only needed the extinguisher once.

When in school ( 6th form) we had a Science Society. After school sessions exploring things.
One was an explosives session. Started with adding sodium to water, burning magnesium. Then on to proper explosives. Gunpowder first. Blew a hole in a ceiling tile ( lid on the tin was too tight so a proper bang! Moved on to various other explosives, including a version of napalm. Igniting it was the hurdle but overcome. Nice fireball result! Outdoors not in the lab. Finally a cannon firing 1/4" ball bearings as an example of a practical use of gunpowder. Took it across to the nearby seashore, wedged it in the railway ballast embankment ( LARGE rocks) pointing across the Loughor estuary towards North Gower. Estimated range of 1/4 mile before we backed off for safety. Didn't want to shoot sheep or horses grazing on the salt marsh opposite.
Great fun in those Science Society sessions. Teachers were superb but these days would be frowned on.

Some of our science teachers were ex forces WW2, so very easy around flames and bangs. It was expected.

Sodium chlorate & icing sugar a great mix.

tried my Gt Uncle's 12 bore in the garden when I was 8, scared the chickens and gave me a sore shoulder but never got found out.

In the school holidays I used to help my Dads cousin out.

He was a shot firer and used to have his set days around the local quarries.

Usually used ANFO but very occasionally we used gelly.

My job was to tamp the charge, insert the detonator and stop up the charged hole.

Cousin would do the role call, sound the warning, check the firing circuit and press the button
