I thought maybe we could share experience as this price and availability thing evolves. We are due to do another Highland road trip at the end of April, but with an unpredictable future, I may adopt Plan B and take the diesel Golf. because I can get twice as far on a tank.

Anyway. over the past few weeks I've been to Derby to family, and there has been no sign of shortage or queues.

Last Saturday we travelled to St Mawes in Cornwall, and travelled early as we do. There was not a problem. Forecourts were empty. Prices were over £1.85 petrol, and at Michael Wood Services (BP) on the M5, V Power Diesel is £2.19.9. Empty forecourts.

While we were in Cornwall. our doom and gloom friends were texting the there was no fuel around where we live. Thinking this through, they are penny wise on fuel and use Asda.Sainsburys and Morrisons. Logically, the cheaper stations will always run out first.

Coming back this morning, we did a 4.22am start with a full tank. Stopped at Michael Wood Services. Empty forecourt. Then did a splash and dash at a Shell station just off the M1 at J29. By then it was about 8.30. Just a couple of cars filling up. So it was not a problem at all. Maybe the price is controlling panic buying.

Lets see how this develops over the next few weeks.

Arrived at the hotel in Contin ok.
Yesterday's run up through mid Wales, M53/M56/M6 went well. Comfort/coffee break at the Old Station in Welshpool.. Topped up with petrol in Welshpool. No queues or shortage. V-Piwer £1.78 though! Luckily not much needed but put in to ensure enough for the next stage to Gretna. Overnight stay and tank topped up. Stopped inBankfoot just North of Perth. Light lunch and £20 petrol top up. Self service unmanned petrol station.
Major roadworks on A9 so one slow section. Looks a major job there...sign said 2028/2029 timescale. New dual carriageways being put in. Roof down and good weather. No obvious signs of petrol queues anywhere.
A Typhoon went over fairly low in Dalwhinnie area. Saw one earlier plus a Transport quite low.
An enjoyable trip up.
Now for some runs....

I think Donald Duck hasn't reckoned on China's slow diplomacy. They will broker the deal in their favour & USA is toast. I spent a lot of time in China & that is their plan.

It’s human nature to want the cheapest price but be careful what you wish for, the cheapest product from the cheapest vendor comes with a guarantee only of mediocrity in one or many ways.
I’ve no expertise in volatile values of commodities, but it stands to reason they sell at today’s value regardless of the price paid, should the price drop, will everyone rush to help out the poor guy with a whole stock of overpriced fuel as a reward for not putting up the price to reflect the restocking cost when they should have.
Silver has existed for thousands of years but doubled in price in one, who today would sell at any price achieved from any date in history more than six months ago, I’d guess nobody who wants to continue is business.
