Correct me if i'm wrong: the bag needs to be attached when empty, but with the windows inside, the bag can be safely stored in the appropriate space under the luggage rack?

I don’t have a spare wheel, so I can leave the bag in the rack slot whether it is full or empty. It can’t slide out because the number plate blocks it.

What you must not do, however, is rest the bag on the rack while you are fixing the windows, then drive off and allow it to fall on the ground. Two near misses for me so far (including one occasion where I happened to be passing the same junction 15 mins later and wondered what that thing on the ground was) :-)

Correct when the sidescreens are on my bag sits on the rear shelf. When they are in the bag they go into a special slot on the rack. I have a different ract to yours though, the curled knob you see by the filler cap allows the bar to lift to put the sidescreen bag in. If you bought a rack to hold the sidescreens then it is fine.
