I was visiting the Lake at Aix-Les-Bain and thee was a meeting of about 15 Riva Speedboats from Europe. There was one with his engine cover open .Chatting to the owner it had two Cadillac engines fitted! Giving him nearly 50 knots !
But two British guys turned up,with their Albatross speed boats and they attracted as much attention.
Bit like a Morgan does at a Ferrari meet !

Here is the real deal at speed - I have a picture of the Lambo engined boat somewhere in the library.

I have followed these beautiful craft over many years and the price of these limited production runs at the time makes your eyes water as does the beauty of lines.

Saw that once in about 1972 in and around Portofino, a model disembarked from it, accompanied by a couple of greyhounds and sashayed along the boardwalk towards the harbour wall.

It's a USA challenge boat of the era..

Is that Gar Wood's Miss America X thinking. This boasted four Packard V12 aero engines. Inline pairs had their crankshafts directly coupled and carefully phased to allow them to function as V24 units, a feat Packard said was impossible. Each of the four was capable of 1600 hp scared allowing it to be the first to exceed 125 mph!

It won him back the speedboat cup during 1932-33 from us Brits who's boat had the new superior Merlin engines, but only two.
