Good evening!

I may have the opportunity to purchase an M3W with very low mileage (built in 2016) on the clock.
The 3-Wheeler belongs to a collector who has driven only 300 km over the last 10 years.
A service (the first one) was carried out in April of this year by an authorized Morgan dealer.

What technical risks should I expect as a buyer when considering a 10-year-old M3W that has hardly been driven at all?

If you haven't seen it already, I recommend you take a good look at the BUYERS GUIDE. There are several desirable upgrades & modifications listed in the document to correct issues that our cars (even the later ones) had when they left the factory.

A 2016 car that has not been used for some time should basically be a good buy. Most of the design issues had been addressed by Morgan by 2016, so you only have the normal, "lack of use" things to deal with. I would say that 2016/17 car is the "sweet spot" for M3W's, most of the early issues sorted and before the Euro 4 stuff came in. In standard form it will make a good run around car. If you have a reasonable mechanical aptitude you can make one of these cars very usable for a fairly minimal amount of money.

If you wanted to DIY an absolutely standard 2016 car with ALL the reliability and usability mods yourself they could be done for about £6000, more if you pay someone to do it all for you. The information about what is needed for a reliable and useable car is there. If you plan to do some longer M3W journeys, you need to have a look at doing these sort of improvements over the standard specification, unless you feel lucky?

@schorschie, Laurens is simply saying that if you can take it to M3WServices in France, they can give it a complete inspection and they can repair any issues that may have been caused by little use. I agree that the 2016 should have all of the upgrades from ~2014, but they can help sort if you have any cracking tubes, belts, check the seals, etc. It is well worth the check, and M3WServices know what they are doing.

Although I am in Texas, I have used Craig at M3WServices for parts and advice. He is a wealth of knowledge and we have considered flying him to the US for a national tour!
