I received an email today informing me that the SS is now for sale in the US.
Even the configurator is already up and working ... base price at $119,900

I think a P4 Supersport would sell in the UK at the right price point.

The four cylinder is powerfull enough and lighter. The only advantage of the six cylinder is the noise and the fact that it is a six cylinder.

It's type approval, however there are differences with the UK engine

US Plus Four: Uses the BMW B46 engine. This is the US-emissions-compliant variant of BMW's 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder.

UK Plus Four: Uses the BMW B48 engine. This is the European equivalent, which delivers the exact same output: 255 bhp and up to 295 lb-ft of torque

Bit more info on the Porsche flavour SS - it was an expensive option (this is from memory not fact checked) in circa 1985 a 911 standard was £22k while the ‘turbo look SS’ was £30k while a basic Capri at the time cost £7.5k.

Seems the word Supersport carries a premium even over the decades

In this color and with these wheels, this car looks a lot like a kitcar. (Of course, I know it isn't one.)

It would be interesting car, a UK P4 Supersport increases the common parts like chassis etc., probabily deliver greater economies of scale, improve the doors and sidescreen in what would possibly become the base model in the Morgan range offering a boot, hard top, solid wheels, A divergence from the more P4 known attributes eg bonnet louvres. It would be interesting to understand the current demand for which body style is in ascendance.......................
