Work in progress
My bonnets are being painted at the moment and I took the opportunity to sort out the problem of hot air from the engine bay entering the ventilation system. Not a problem in winter but particularly annoying in summer. Our car is fitted with aircon and the hot air in summer also overides the aircon to a fair degree.
Whilst at the factory I bought some new rubber foam trim for the air intake plus 2 extra pieces. I would be embarrassed to tell how much they cost!!!
Anyway the two parallel central pieces will block the air that normally enters through the gap at the front of the airbox. They are not fixed at the moment because I want to make sure the hinge return does not foul them. Also I have a sheet of black foldable plastic that will be formed and used to cover the inlet between the two pieces.
The two boxes thus formed will sit under the intake louvres on both sides of the hinge and, hopefully, seal agaist the underside of the bonnets.

I replaced mine with a neoprene/leather composite......
Neoprene sides, leather top.
Well you know what I'm like and they were all offcuts so not expensive.

About £5 from an aquarium shop where they sell filter medium by the roll, all thickness are available and cuts easily with an electric carving knife. Even charcoal impregnated to filter out smells.

In this case the "side walls" need to be closed cell foam. The last thing you want is for air to pass. The open cell foam is down in the v shaped slot. The fan box is slightly different to most because I have aircon but the principle is the same.
For the filter, thanks for the tip about the aquarium filter Colin.

Our 4/4 was leaking quite hot air into the cab. Very temporary fix is a folded newspaper tucked down onto the heater intake foam filter

If you block the heater intake, will you do any damage to anything? My aircon is very weak and I wonder if the hot air is overwhelming it somehow?

Where is the air intake for the aircon? If it pulls air through the same inlet, then it may be an issue?
