John has hit the nail on the head with 3 words......... 'life's too short'........🤷🏻‍♂️

So.... if there's anything, anywhere or anyone that brings you joy...... crack on....👍🏼
We're not here long, we are of little consequence in the grand scheme of things and most of us make little impact on the planet while we're here.

So....... enjoy the moment, tomorrow isn't guaranteed.....🤷🏻‍♂️

I happen to like watches as well........ I've done the gratuitous willy wavers, I'm more subtle and understated now........😂😂
Omega are the brand I've always come back to, I've had a few........🤯😎

Not necessarily so, it's whatever floats your boat and my multigenerational (it made it throuh the 14/18 war at the front line and then again the 39/45 conflict on the front line in forefathers pockets RHA) Silver Hunter floats mine as it is a masterpiece in silversmithing and so glad I keep it with me most times but not in the Morgan, just my daily Rotary for most trips in them.

John intimated that V8 ownership is willy waggling, I think not as his most recent acquisition ( a humble 4 pot engine - it is not) could show it a clean pair of heels and is a quarter Century younger and worth considerably more innocent

The Plus 8 affair for me started 55 years ago - the same year I met my wife to be and both desires have stood the test of time (53 years married) and unlike others I shall not be trading either in for a younger model rofl

Like watches as with Plus 8's you either get it or you don't, the former no the later YES love

I was waiting for the retort............touche!

I get V8 desire, I was piped at the post for a Ferrari California a few weeks ago with the last of the naturally aspired 4.3 V8, a lot of car for the money and relatively good value compared with the CX..........

I looked at getting an auto trad, there's a Plus 4 4 seater converted to auto been for sale for a few years now however following the discussions with the gearbox suppliers to Morgan, the spares supply was woefully limited or non existent eg the dedicated wiring harness and could be problematic in the future, otherwise I'd probably be driving a auto trad now. The CX is a step up for Morgan, probably represents bettter value second hand than new, but that in part is the priviledge of exercising choice.

The things we convince ourselves are so importanrt to our lifes, all first world problems, I'm sure.

Omega back in the 60's (still very much the case) was one of the top notch leading brands, eg the first watch on the moon dare I say it more exclusive than Rolex at that time... Whereas Rolex was a low volume mass produced 'not paricularily sophisticated and for many a 'tool' watch for submariners etc. along with the many other great makes. It's only clever marketing, key product placement and strategic supply control that has elevated it's status and resultant desireability........at one point Rolex where standard issue to the more elite UK armed forces and it's rumoured to stop them falling into civilian hands a whole bunch of them when decommisioned, where placed in a container of concrete and sunk in a harbour.........which needless to say made the military version that did make it into the civilian world highly chased, prized and now extremely valuable.................

I love mechanical watches and I wear them for me, not anyone else (the same can be said for a car). I appreciate the craftsmanship: from a factory built, inexpensive, Vostok Amphibia, that feels like it is made from recycled soviet era tin cans, all the way up to hand crafted, one man band, time piece, each one has charm and appeal.

However, and perhaps like Morgans, watches are often over looked by the younger generations and it isn't rare to hear "why do I need a watch, I've got a phone to tell time!"

The second tier to that conversation are people who wear an inexpensive digital watch (Casio F-91) and don't understand why you'd need/want anything else.

Quite possible not dissimilar to the argument as to why you need a Morgan when an econo box can get you there and, at times, in better comfort, and less chance of issue.

It either speaks to you or it doesn't.

A Morgan is a monument to irrationality. So is an expensive watch - and so is a nicely kept garden, or a lover's favour or a home for stray dogs. If rationality were the criterion for things being allowed to exist, the world would be one gigantic field of soya beans!

I wear either:

My Sekonda wind up which my parents bought me for my 12th birthday (or) the gold Rotary watch which was presented to ny Taid on his retirement from Thos Ward in 1971, passed down to me on my Dads death.

I don't need anything else!

I mostly wear a digital Lorus as it is robust enough and inexpensive for gardening, DIY and doing jobs on the Mog. I have a couple of reasonable watches and the gold Tudor I was given on my 21st when we are going out. I'm not bothered about expensive watches they only tell the time as do mine.
