Solar PV at the N-M ranch

I know that one or two of the TM regulars are also micro generators, so I thought I would post our new installation up for anyone interested.
It's a 4KW system and it went live at the end of last week, but with so little bright weather over the last few days we have not generated very much electricity so far.
Cheers,
N-M

My friend has just built his own house. He installed a ground source system, but for winter heating only. The cool air piping was a step too far for him. He is the last person you would call 'Green' being a true red meat man, mad2 but predicted the saving over conventional sources of power to make it worthwhile. spend

Today we made 2.5kwh due to cloud etc. The PV system has now delivered it's quoted annual amount of 3064 kwh. So like last year we should be ending around 3150kwh.
The immersun pulled in 0.5kw which given the typical background demand of the house of 0.3 kw seems fair.

I forgot to do a final reading for the full year so I am now 14 days over, but the meter now reads 4035 Kwh.

Quite pleased with that. I think we are 18% over from the predicted figure given to us by the installer.
I reckon that if you add in the factor of a poor year for sunshine, that's very satisfactory indeed.

I also have panels installed including a hot water system. The trouble is I can't get the swmbo to modify her behaviour to optimise their benefit.

She wants her power, hot water and heat and plenty of it when she wants it, and she says if I don't like it I can shove my stupid panels where the sun don't shine.

Tell me about it. My wife has the same carbon footprint as a small Chinese power station.

Solution to the problem......give her the electric bill to pay and in return you will give her all the night time income generated from the solar panels. wink

swmbo is about to retire... I'm hoping she spends a lot of time baby-sitting new grandsons... At her daughter's house! grin2 That'll be some recompense for all the power wasted when she used to live with us rofl

Isnt there some logic in pushing all the new build houses to have panels as standard.
