I hope you bought the G after learning the error of your ways with that tin can wink

Have you put winter tyres on the 350? If so, it will be close to unstoppable. The only person who may give you a run for your money is Boshly and his Baja 'buggy' drive

Careful !! redcard There are lots of us 'tin can' owners on TM

No, the G has road tyres (it's a family bus). The 'tin can' is for off-road fun as I don't mind adding dents to it.

I know, I'm baiting Graham, Lotus-boy Easter and the others. grin2

I did look at Defenders but when you compare them to G-wagens, IMHO, it is a struggle to justify all of the shortfalls of the Land Rover. As an off-road beast, they make some sense but even then, I am not sure a 461 isn't a better option.

I am really looking forward to the updated Defender because I think they should improve not only the quality, safety and reliability of this icon, but also the ergonomics. It deserves it! uk

You want to transform a tough and honest defender in a car for hairdressers? The Def' is for real men, even your Queen drove it, and "ergonomic" comes from Greeks smile

The queen's Defender had an automatic and V8 conversion, so it was hardly 'stock' and chances are, it also had every other 'upgrade' thrown at it in an attempt to make it more reliable and less of a rust trap wink

There is a reason Twisted, JE Engineering, etc, have created strong businesses out of taking new Defenders and upgrading them.

As for the Queen, she has to drive British; can you imagine the uproar if she didn't. Last time I was over at her home in Windsor, she admired the G and said wistfully 'if only....' grin2

PS - I love older Land Rover Series 1-3 and older Defenders; I simply know the G is a better vehicle oops

Different, not necessarily better. smile
There are places I'd take my 90 I wouldn't trust a Gwagon to get me out again...
Mind, I wouldn't take anything newer than a 300Tdi there either... Simplicity sometimes rules grin2 oldgit
