New watch

The thread Nice watch for a Morgan got me looking at watches and I was so taken by the MeisterSinger Monograph that I ordered it. To have it sent by courier would have cost €40 for insurance so I decided to save the money and pick it up myself.

It was a good excuse for a run in the Morgan and to send a couple of days at a spa at Abano Terme. A round trip of 500 km and a bill of €1,200 plus fuel to save €40 crazy3

We had a great time and lucked out with the hotel room. The hotel we booked on the internet was actually closed for the season and they switched us to another hotel in the group for the same price and upgraded us to a Junior Suite for the inconvenience. The room was great, the service wonderful, the food and wine fabulous, and both swmbo and I were happy and relaxed following a couple of massages for both of us, some treatments for her and several dips in the natural hot water pools.

It was quite chilly but we had sunshine on the first two days and a bit of mist with the sun shining through for the trip home.

PS. Contrary to rumours I don't work for the Italian tourist organisation. smile

The watch has one hour hand and no minute hand. It does take a bit of getting used to. The graduations on the dial for the hour hand are in 5 minute intervals. Telling the time with an accuracy of more than 5 minutes is not easy. The markings for the quarter hour and the half hour are more pronounced. It leads to a slightly more relaxed attitude about time.

There is a sweep hand for the seconds that, like most chronographs, starts and stops with the top button. Outside the hour graduations are the graduations for 60 seconds. The numbers are quite small and I need my glasses to read them.

The topmost of the small dials is marked to 30 minutes and the hand jumps one minute for every revolution of the second sweep hand. The bottom small dial is graduated in half hours to 12 hours and that hand moves constantly when the chronograph is functioning.

The chronograph is zeroed by pushing the lower button.
