Pinjarra Classic Car Show (WA)
Hi there,
Just back from an enjoyable morning and afternoon at the Pinjara classic car show. Lots of cars (in the hundreds), including five Morgans, Jaguars, Austins, TVR, Lotus, Land Rovers, (lots of) MGs, Rolls Royces, Jensens and so on...
There was even a fly past by 15 planes (at least 10 were bi-planes). I am constantly amazed by what you can find in WA, not least the cars but now the bi-planes too....
Some photos attached. For those in the UK I put the roof up to come back home - too sunny!

Hi Dean-Royal. I can add one more feature to what Richard said about number places. In Western Australia, plates can be made up of either alphanumeric or alphabet-only, and not more than 9 characters are allowed! I've got the very appropriate plate "AEROMAX" which adds to the provenance of the car.

....but should not be allowed as it is a car name/model....why did our licencing body not know about the Aeromax?

Oh dear, I nearly forgot: I ordered mine from new although many still thinks it's the Hamster's old car. I can assure you that it's not! Richard Hammond's car was one of the earliest ones off the production line (I think it's either #A0007 or #A0008) while mine is #A0077, three-quarters of the way through the production run! Simon and Rich are trying to trace the Hamster's Max (if it did come to Oz at all) but so far, none of the clubs here have reported seeing it anywhere on the public roads or even on the race track! Vanished into thin air, it did! Chris.

is that an original SS next to the etype it looks fantastic.
Looking at the wheels & tyres I'd say not. Interesting set of photos. Thanks for sharing.

It's because at the time, the Aeromax was still a sketch on Matthew Humphries' drawing board. It was through Tony's motor trade connection back in the UK that I got to hear about it and ordered up the plate. Two years later the car went into production. If the Licensing Dept knew it was in production, they would have said "No" to my application. So I was quite lucky on that occasion! Chris

I thought so too - but don't let your guard down for these guys! They can change their minds at the blink of an eye... Be cautious, my friend! Once they've issued a plate, they won't withdraw it. But if you handed it back in, they certainly won't re-issue it now that they know about the Max. So for me, the plate stays with the car for the rest of its life. Chris
