Some years ago I purchased and later built a 1/43rd white metal scale model of the TW Collection Morgan Plus Four Plus. Included in the kit was a photocopied leaflet of a prototype convertible version. It doesn't look quite the same as the one in Ian's photographs at the Heritage Museum - more a roofless version of the original +4+. I did try to find out more to no avail.

It probably is the same car. I cannot see the full blown picture either. The EB Morgan, which was the only other fibreglass car built by EB Plastics for Morgan, did not have (part of) the traditional Morgan grille.

It was also rejected. The Swiss built "+4B" was a closed car.

But the thumbnail is very intriguing -- the young woman appears to be Peter Morgan's daughter, Lady Jane Colwyn. She posed for some of the promotional pictures for the +4+ Coupe. (See for example page 121 of Bowden's "MORGAN - First and Last ...".) She appears to be wearing the same dress, and I'm pretty sure both pictures would have been taken the same day.

If so, this means that Morgan must have made a full-sized proto-type of the convertible +4+. Afterward Peter Morgan probably decided to kill the convertible, or delay its introduction until he could see the reaction to the +4+ Coupe.

I've resolved the issue with the photo.

I would gladly own one of those - I think it is a lovely looking Morgan.

It does look like a montage of lots of other cars from the era. Would have be interesting to see how it would have competed in the market place of the time.

Never know it could have led to MMC going the same way as many of the other manufacturers.

In this shape the +4+ would have been a real threat to the MGB and Sunbeam Alpine. Shame that it was rejected.

Not as rigid a car as the MGB though. I wonder how an open glass fibre body like that would cope with a flexing chassis?

will come out at £50k, but Alloy with TUB not Fibre Glass with Trad chassis
