Is it also old enough to be tax free?

No I'm afraid it's 1990....that said it's the cheapest car I've ever had to run...all the parts are available even though the DeTomaso family closed the factory a couple of years or so past...the parts were sold to an enthusiast who can supply most things but absolutely everything is available from many many specialist suppliers in USA...and it's a small world so most Pantera owners are buddies with worldwide contacts and we all help each other out. Engine parts are Ford small block, gearbox is a series 2 ZF transaxle with lsd (all very GT40 ish) I am just replacing the windscreen seal this weekend and then I'm out driving.....BEST THING IS no computers, just spark plugs, carb and things you can fix with spanners......refreshing!

I was very tempted by the black one that Oakfields had for sale about 24-months back... the one that was features in Classic & Sports car magazine. As the community is so small, I'm sure you'll know of the car. I always wondered why it took so long to sell

Your right...everyone knows every car...so join the club first and then get the inside knowledge. That car was well known in the club...for it's good points and bad points...needless to say it was sold outside the membership for a reason. I would be wrong to say if anything comes up for sale at a dealer don't buy it...but that's the first heads up to find out more. Only 17 GT5S in uk now...prices going up, there will be a good GT5 in COYS auction very shortly. If you want one be patient and careful it's easy to unwittingly buy a rebuilt right off repairable, a rust bucket or a ill moded car with a bolted on engine goodies from USA catalogue purchases....

Lovely cars. I like carbs too. I remember the last time the black car went through the auction. I remember it looked like a proper car in so much as it was very clean. (if it's the same car) I know a guy that's recently bought one that the previous owner had reversed into a lamp post or a tree at speed. Needless to say it needs repairing.
