Ivory

Herewith Ivory (see Ebony)

A 1979 Plus 8. originally yellow, with green leather interior, and purchased by Major WP Davis in Hong Kong (I wonder if he's still around")

Anyhow, I found her in the hands of a dealer in Brisbane, (nice pommy bloke) and we sort of understood each other.

She was in relatively good nick when I bought her, but I've changed to wires (kept the original alloys), fiddled with the dash and instruments (- what do you think of those chrome missile switches), removed the windscreen for the Brooklands screens, got rid of that god awful Morgan steering wheel, added a couple of peep mirrors (with a bit of "bracketing" and generally fettled.

I do have a problem - She came minus a hood (I do have the frame). I guess without the windscreen, a hood is of little consequence but I wonder about a tonneau. Do you reckon I could get one made locally, or can they be purchased from Morgan, Rutters etc - and would it fit?

Comments and ideas most welcome

Cheers

Jeremy

(I'll post some pictures of the other "babies" on the general photo forum in due course

Very smart Jeremy.

You can get the hood (without windscreen why!) and tonnneau made by say Melvyn Rutter but you will need to fir the eyes for the turnbuckles etc. as each car is unique.

Many members down-under have had them made locally (mine did prior to me owning it). Seeming a lot of the local boat places do a very good job (I've also heard about aircraft trimmers being used).

The chrome missile switches are unique!

I do like the fitting of those mirrors Jeremy....good use of redundant screen mounts.

Very nice job. From my experience with tonneau covers they do need to be a tight fit to work and look good. As no two morgans are the same, I would advise finding a local trimmer to make one for you. You will end up with a better job and no hassle.

Very Nice indeed!
I had a leather hood cover made by Steve Simmonds a few years ago (not one of his zip up ones), he made it then sent it to me along with a loan of the tool to cut the eye holes as it needs to be tight to work properly.
