Aeroman's Special Project...More Photos

Here are the rest of the photos...showing the complete car. Sorry about the teasers earlier...I just couldn't resist!

I'll leave Brian to tell you more about the car once he's back from Salon Prive. But the photos tell quite a lot about the detail although whilst I peered under the car, it wasn't possible to take any photos. There did appear to be some louvres under there! I knew Brian wouldn't let we louvre counters down! I'm sure he will love to tell you more about the underpinnings.

The Rocket Red is stunning and really shows the car off well...and the scratch from the photographer's ( NOT me or Richard/Redmorgan!) stepladders is well hidden!

The interior highlights all the materials used in a traditional Morgan, with brushed alloy, leather, wood and paint and if anyone is wondering about the centre of the dash....thats an iPad you can see. Bear in mind there is no rear window!!

I wish I could have seen it yesterday, but missed it by thirty metres or so!
I love 99% of it. The rear three quarters is my favourite view, and I love the clamshell bonnet.
The headlamps - Hmm, perhaps will grow with time.
I wonder how it would have looked on wires....... surrender getcoat

Before I comment on the comments, a few thanks are required. Firstly, to Chubb Insurance for believing in the car since shortly after last years event and agreeing for it to be on their stand during Salon Prive, alongside some other very special cars.

Sam, Rob and the Chubb CEO who sat in the car this morning and who was more than enthusiastic about it. Thanks to you all, and also the rest of the Chubb team we really had a fantastic day today and there are two more days to go...

Secondly, to Steve and the Team at Morgan very many thanks for the car and your patience in dealing with my multifarious requests. Jon, Lee I, Mark R, Ben, Nick, Roger, Harvey, John, Ross, Wills, Blake, Lee, I'm sure I've missed a few off for which many apologies, but we've had a surfeit of shampoo today! wine Many thanks indeed, I think you guys have excelled. thumbs

Also to the TM photographer Jays, thanks John for the photos and managing the release of photos today and your continuing support. There are a very few other TM members who have followed the progress of SP1 and kept me buoyed up when there have been issues that needed solving, thank you guys you know who you are. grin2

Finally to the Mog Mag team, who are showcasing the car in their October issue which will be in the newsagents shortly, if you don't already have a subscription to the mag this is probably worth buying if you want to know more, or even if you don't like the car! somestick

Thank you one and all, I'm very grateful.

With best wishes
Brian

P.S. I'll deal with the plaudits and brick bracks in a separate post. innocent

So whilst most of the comment today was very positive and it was one of the most photographed cars in the new car area, according to an independent observer, the SP1 has gone viral it seems and here are just a few of the motoring publication comments:

Auto Express - The 10 Best Cars at Salon Prive

Top Gear - Morgan SP1 Revealed

Jalopnik - Morgan SP1 Handcrafted British Sportster

So there you have it, for some it is a Marmite car but for the vast majority today it was a tour de force for Morgan. I did say before we started posting photos though, if there is something that you don't like then don't blame MMC, the choices and taste, or lack of it, are mine and I accept full responsibility. tumbleweed

Thanks to all who have posted positively about it, there are many to mention all individually, but I'll comment on a few posts:
Clipper - as a former Bristol owner, the Fighter influence is in the switches in the headrail.
Rich - thanks, see you Friday
Flyfisher - what there is a lot of LifeCar influence in the design, the original LifeCar is still in the Morgan Museum
Aldermog - the explanation for the lights is on a different thread Peter
Budster - Splinters, as Giles has said wooden chairs don't usually result in splinters, you must advise me of your usage so that I can avoid them scared
Jay - louvres - Mum's the word
Roady - you're shot cowboy smile
WR142LL - SP2 I'm sure it could be done with a 2 in front of it, and I'm not sure that would include the glass smirk2
Dean-Royal - whilst the AeroMax is iconic, this ain't a baby Aeromax brother, but something completely bespoke!
Aldermog - didn't think of checking that Peter, how do I buy it?
Jays - thanks
MonteZooma - Many thanks Philip for your comments
Graham - And for yours too Graham
OZ - Thanks!

Ladies Day tomorrow and on Friday a bus load of the Morgan craftsmen involved in the building of the car will be at Salon Prive, so if any TM'ers are visiting on the day, do come and look us up on the Chubb stand.

Cheers

Brian, firstly my congratulations on having the balls and the fortitude to live your dreams. I think that you have created something that will not only give you enjoyment, but perhaps also put a bit of bounce back into the step of the Morgan factory and its craftsmen. That will benefit us all.

I know we will never have the opportunity to see this machine in the flesh down under, but the we still have yet to see a M3W here on the road (Legaly). I am in the UK in Mid October, so if it is somewhere still on display, I may get the opportunity to drool like several of the other members of TM (Free open shot on that guys)

Good luck and take care on the road. Everyone is going to be looking at your car so hard, they won't be paying attention to the road. thumbs

Well B, I've been waiting patiently to see it in its full glory tomorrow. It's development from a thought in your head to a nearly complete car was fascinating, your imagination far far exceeding mine smile

I'm glad I didn't see the interior in stages though as I'm really looking forward to meeting her in person (it must be a her she's like a tall elegant woman with striking but beautiful features, a Julia Roberts, the perfect partner and companion to Big Red ..... and for the sake of decency I'll ignore what the Jalopnik commentator saw in the buttresses wink ).

looking forward to dinner tonight, Salon Prive tomorrow and a ride in SP1 soon.

Lastly may you have many happy and safe miles in her. Alif Mabrook Brother thumbs

Cheers
