12 Years Today
12 years today a hero of mine lost his battle with cancer.
Sadly missed.

He was great that race with Kenny Roberts where he put his two fingers up at him at 170mph and behind his back had me in stitches . They dont make them like that anymore .

One of the greats. My first Grand Prix was to see Sheene at Silverstone and I saw him at many circuits including Oliver's Mount which put to rest the then press comments that he couldn't ride on road circuits, not that current Grand Prix riders do anyway.
I believe he is under rated as a rider because of his public persona but for me he stands comparison with any champion, gave me great pleasure watching him when he was racing and it was a tragedy for him and his family to die so young after everything he had been through.

Funnily enough I was just thinking about Barry Sheene; the impending return of Suzuki to MotoGP after a 4 year hiatus inspired me to write a question about him for my pub quiz yesterday.
R.I.P. Barry. What a legend.
