Curborough Taster Day 22nd March 2015
Lovely day at the Curborough Sprint Taster day and a very grateful thanks to Graham for providing the Yellow Cab! Fully air conditioned as well...he is so thoughtful!!
Managed to hobble around on my crutches and see everything and bump into a few TMers as well...always a bonus! Was very impressed with the dark green Plus4 with the Lotus Twin Cam engine which I believe is a replica of an Australian car of some note. Also VERY impressed with the two cars Cerealsurfer brought up in his equally impressive trailer. Sadly I was flagging a bit so didn't get any photos.

Looks like a great day there. Gutted I couldn't get there but it clashed with Oakmere's excellent open say. What is the blade attachment on the front of the plus 4 Lotus TC?
Good to see you are back out & about John even if on the crutches!

' What is the blade attachment on the front of the plus 4 Lotus TC?' Roger, funnily enough someone else asked the same question as we were looking at the superb Morgan-Lotus. Not sure of the correct terminology, but it's to cut the optical timing beam when sprinting or hillclimbing. The blue No 61 Roadster has not got one, as this was not a timed event, but for competition they are required to give a positive signal of when the car has crossed the start line (and the finish, too). Gerry.

Thanks Gerry. Looks like it gives them a 9-10 inch advantage unless the blade has to be on the line when they start off!

Yes it's a timing light cutter blade, our MR2 has one when we hill climb, John thanks for the pics.

Lovely twin cam Morgan. A friend of mine has a 1971 twin cam 4/4.

Thanks Gerry. Looks like it gives them a 9-10 inch advantage unless the blade has to be on the line when they start off! They are called timing struts. Without one it is very difficult to line a car up correctly to start and ensures all competing cars are equal as far as timing is concerned.

John glad you were able to get around & have a day out. Lovely photos Thanks John. It was good to get out and enjoy Morgan's again! With the bonus of a very breezy trip in Graham's 4/4! The old ankles suffering this morning....but it was worth it!
