Thanks for that a magnificent machine, I saw and heard the Napier Railton at Goodwood Revival a few years ago and can never forget that sound. I'm rather hoping the Beast of Turin will be at this years.

You cannot easily see from Calums photos but the Napier Bently is 12 cylinder with 8 stub exhausts exiting left. Tachometer white line is at 1800 rpm. Two speed & reverse gearbox, first probably redundant.

23.9L, 450 to 1300 bhp depending on the state of tune and supercharging.
First developed in 1919 it was way ahead of its time with DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder and an aluminum block.
It didn't really become obslete until the arrival of the Rolls Royce Kestrel in the 1930s. Given the rate of progress at the time its life is remarkable.

It does sometimes now run with full exhausts, presumably due to noise nazis, but I've never forgotten it at one Bentley Drivers Club race meeting. When he lifted off, it sounded like a armed insurrection had taken place, a most crowd pleasing contraption.
Chap with bowler hat in one of the photos is Chris Williams, the owner and driver by the way.
