Tracing back the styling cues for the Aeromax

I suppose we can see a little of the styling genes coming from the likes of the early VW Beetle with the split rear window. There are a few more cars from the past with similar styling genes, but having stumbled across these two photos this morning, I think these could perhaps have easily had a significant influence.

Indeed...

I did a Google search for images of the
Delage D8 120S Poutout Aero Coupe and it is utterly gorgeous...I think the front end lighting is somewhat better than the "cross eyed" Plus 8s...

Speaking to Matt Humphries (the Morgan Designer of the AeroMax) some years ago the influences were from many different cars rather than one or two, and the shape was one that he had been drawing and evolving since he was at school. When he joined Morgan the front was altered somewhat to make it a Morgan, but it did not stray too far from the original honed design.

I found that interesting, as many of us sketched car shapes at this age, it's just that most of us, especially me, did not have the talent to take it any further! ooo

Yes, well... Aero 8!

Or do I love in hope that one day there will be a Plus 8 with modern headlights?

Chris Lawrence designed the Aero for ulimate aerodynamic efficiency but I suppose he should have gone to Specsavers!
However the S1 is still my favourite Aero ......

It is nice

Watching the YouTube vid of Harvey Jones going back to Morgan when Charles shows him the new Aero helped me see the S1 again through fresh eyes and it did look stunning

In my opinion the aero was ahead of it's time. If you compare today's design of cars, all of the aero's fit in perfectly.
