Been a few women ran their fingers through it too and I was also squealing Wow eeee! at the time.

Never have much sleep John 5hrs is a lay in for me, just have been wired a little differently to my wife who has to have 8 hrs to be sociable, but it's worked for 45yrs 43 of them married the rest livin over't brush.

This is Happy awaiting delivery of his latest donor revomobile in NZ apparently it's stupid fast - he started off with an Ariel Arrow and graduated to a Bonny by the 3rd year at college and during the lunch break we used to set times to the ring road and back on them, no licences of course, quickest time got a free lunch - I can only remember a couple on the Bonny but a beautiful bike to ride at the time. On the back with Happy was an out of body experience and I loved it.

You are the spitting image of my oldest buddy who now lives in Kiwiland and followed us to South Africa in 1975 where I served a 3 year contract. Sadly we didn't get to meet up as I started a new 2year contract in West Germany as he arrived.
We studied together at College from 15 years to 20 a proper 5 year City & Guilds apprenticeship. We knew each other before that and went to the same Secondary modern school together for the first year until my Father moved.
He invites us out there to stay but having known jet travel from a business user perspective where you turn up 1/2 hr before the flight check in and go, I can't be bothered to spend 1/2 a day waiting at the dehumanising people sorting terminals for a flight anywhere.
I burnt my passport with great joy when I resigned at 63 and vowed not to fly again ever unless it's to the interior of our country in a light plane.

John another of my closest friends lives in Shetland and this is a terrific place to visit having the interests you do this being a highlight - I worked on both Orkney and the Shetland Isles for extended periods and found the locals very welcoming and friendly and extremely resourceful and motivated in a lowkey way, nothing was ever any trouble.

He asked me a favour about 20 years ago and that is to make sure he is not breathing before he is despatched and of course I agreed, he has a greater fear than most that he will be buried alive or grilled alive.
He has had me sweating a couple of times this past 5 years as he has had the full heart bypass job done and then went and got cancer the bugger at present in remission thankfully.

Poor bugger , dad told me he was in Germany and a war was on Thanks for the details , I just love the open space brought up in a tiny estate with just a small road into it and space all around us . Fields , woods , streams , cliffs, caves, ponies in the field and a quarry made about 1820 and left to nature it had a pond and was called dead mans valley, or Devils valley . I think a quarry worker was killed in the early years to get that name. Still it never bothered us we could be pirates , cowboys , or jump out of the trees into the haystacks . Now I look at kids with a mobile in there hand , they have missed out on life. May go next year but June has a list inc the canal tour . I may say I want to fly abroad and go to a nuddy camp ( that will shock the hell out of her ) we dont have to take a dozen suit cases and thats just for . My theory is if I pull a fast one and shock her she may ( I SAID MAY ) let me have a choice. On the other hand she may play me at my own game and say yes knowing I will back down and she wins at picking . Crafty these women and she knows me to well.

John , just looking at some photos I had framed and you sprang to mind and your write up below . Dads Grand father was the first man to ever renew his vows in Gretna . He had a country house in Moffat . He married the girl next door went into the DLI ( Durham Light Infantry) then the RE ( Royal Engineers ) . Dad was named after him married the girl next door went into the DLI then the RE.
When it came to there gold wedding I wanted to give my parents somthing they would love and remember so borrowed my mates gold RR . ( I HAD TO CLEAN IT 18 HOURS WORK IT WAS THAT BAD ) he is a builder . The paper got a hold of the story and did a write up .
Many years ago I spotted a large photo of my Great Grand Parents on the wall ( quite a shock ). Used my ability to coax the very wealthy owner to let me re-frame the photo as it was in a bad state and would not last . But try as I did he refused to let me take the paper write up of it that was in a very broken to bits frame . A month ago we went up North called in and that write up has gone . On chatting to the chap in charge I told him I had got the photo on the wall framed and would get another copy of the write up framed along with my parents . Picked them up on Wed a/noon . Looking at Great G/father and dad they both gaze straight at you , dad more so he seems to look into you . So you see where I get it from no backing off . I am the last John in all our family , if June and I last till a gold wedding ( got married at 34, June 24 ) I would love to do the same . But longevity is not a trait in dads family.
Both have a certain grin that I got the cane for at school and dad told me he also got it at school for the same thing and caused him trouble during his army days . Dad said his captains would give him orders as he looked at them and they hated it.
I think that is a part of us that goes back to our clan highland days.
