Prop shaft grease nipples!

In answer to a recent post about the location of grease nipples I've grabbed a few shots in the Chassis Shop to give you all an idea.

As you can see, access to the front nipples on the Roadster in particular is tight!

The front one's a sod to get at on my 72 4/4. I always take a grease gun and do it while it's on the lift being MOTed.

It's not so bad on the S1 Roadster. Accessible from underneath adjacent to the cross member.
On my Plus 4, if you remember, I opened up a small gap between the floorboards. Just enough to get the grease gun through and use a torch. Don't overdo the greasing. Minimum amount only.

Just a thought.Strange that the 4/4 uses fixed u/j's while the roadster and +4 use circlip replacement u/j's.

.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

As far as I know, the 'grease nipple less' version of the UJ is just the same and is expected to have a reasonable life. The front UJ is to an extent shrouded by the gearbox so doesn't get subjected to quite the same onslaught the rear does.

They all have circlips.....perhaps I should have adjusted the camera angle.

Both have nipples on the front UJs. The third nipple on the Roadster shaft is for the covered spline. The spline for the 4/4- Plus4 shaft slides into the rear of the gearbox output shaft....nor sure how that bit is lubricated.

Hope they spot that missing bolt on the gear-lever extension mounting plate, looks like the drilling is misaligned and part of the hole is covered?
