Did you do any work to establish the intake area was in fact high pressure?
I can see that it would need the air to be taken from through the louvres rather then the under bonnet area due to the blanking off.
I have seen a similar set up on Chris Aklam's Class B +8 , but that used only a corner of the scuttle area , whereas this one is much larger.
How did you establish the best lengths for the intake trumpets, there is quite a bit of "folklore" about this for the Rover V8 (shorter for more power, longer for more torque) , but I don't know of any for the V6?

It didn't draw through the louvres I've just added some more pictures
I cut two large panels out of the back of the bonnet for maximum intake area
I carried out some rudimentary pitot tube testing in a road car to establish that pressure and airflow we're going in the right direction
The trumpets were dictated by what I could fit under the bonnet
It's not folklore regarding intake tract length but it has to be carefully calculated for optimum results, and then generally at only a certain RPM The best solution is variable length trumpets but we had neither the time or the budget to undertake such a project

I can see that your solution of cutting those large holes in the bonnets should work well as the area in front of the screen is a definitely a high pressure zone.
I know that several Fords (an others ) use variable length inlet tracts on their engines. Long to get a better torque at low revs and short for high revs. I suspect a constantly variable system would be beyond most budgets!

I know one manufacturer that paid 3.3 million Euros to Porsche to develop a VVIS for their cars.......;-)
