Two v nice early bikes.

The Douglas was quite quick for its day - and the Minerva is quite rare..

The both look fully restored - maybe over restored from the pics.

But great to see!!

Neil,

It's hard to imagine that an engine as large as 600cc would only produce 4bhp.....and then for that to be considered 'quick'....though all things are relative!

The two bikes you mentioned were absolutely immaculate and had clearly been restored to the point where they were probably better than new, patina was clearly missing and I have no idea if the parts were the original items or not, nevertheless a joy to see in all their glory.

I am never sure whether the 'good as or better than new' adds value or not, the Maserati had plenty of 'patina' but whether it would be considered more or less valuable in it's current state or after restoration is hard to tell.

Ultimately I guess it depends on whether or not the 'restored' components were still the original items or if they were replacements - and just thinking of that reminds me of the 'Triggers Broom' sketch in 'Only Fools and Horses'.

Anyway, the show had plenty to offer and it was interesting to see so many British cars - albeit LHD - on display.

Stewart,

No it isn't my car....my car is nowhere near as shiny as the one in the photograph....although it is very similar to mine in a number of areas....also the position of the steering wheel is a bit of a give away! The car in the photograph is (if I remember correctly) a 2000 Plus 4 and clearly in very nice condition....I can't remember if it was for sale or not....so much to see and so few brain cells left!

The Meguiar's Team had a stand at the show....you might have enjoyed chatting to them about their products and your use of them. In any case I suspect that your car will be looking just as shiny after your recent polishing efforts.
